2018 Summer Camps
Each day of camp, campers will have a riding lesson from a PATH certified therapeutic riding instructor. Campers will have the opportunity to help groom and tack their horse for class. Besides riding, campers will do one or two unmounted activities with Little Bit herd members each day. This includes learning how to groom, bathe, and lead horses. Campers will learn about stable management and help feed lunch to a few of the Little Bit herd members. Other potential unmounted activities include learning about horse health and a treat enrichment feeding session. Campers will have fun with games and crafts, as well! Possible games include "pony, pony, horse," horsey tails, and designing obstacle courses and barrel racing patterns to run through on hobby horses. Favorite camp crafts include painting with horse brushes, making a pool noodle horse, and more!
Camp is open to current riders and patients, individuals on the wait list, rider siblings and riders without disabilities. Individuals do not need prior riding experience to participate. Little Bit Summer Camp operates a 5 to 1 camper-to-staff ratio. We strive to operate an inclusive camp that allows for success and enjoyment of each camper.
Each week of camp is assigned an age range. Camp runs July 9-August 23, Monday through Thursday, 9AM to 1PM. Campers may bring a lunch to eat with fellow campers from 1:00-1:30. Please keep in mind that lunch will not be provided by Little Bit.

FEES AND ASSESSMENTS:
Each week of camp is $400. Cost includes $284.80 time/services provided and $115.20 camp fee.
Riders who have not previously participated at Little Bit will be required to be assessed by a Little Bit instructor. Riders who have not ridden at Little Bit in the past year may require an assessment at the discretion of the Camp Coordinator. The assessment fee is $75. You will be contacted after your registration is processed to set up an assessment date.
At the assessment the instructor is able to determine what riding level the rider is at, how much support he or she will need and what camper group would be the best fit. The assessment will include working in the barn, riding and time to sit down and talk. Assessments will begin in April.
DSHS/DDA Respite Funds
Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center accepts DSHS Respite funds for our summer camps.
Camp cost: $400.00 = $284.80 time/services provided, paid by DSHS + $115.20 camp fee, paid by camper.
Contact your DSHS case manager for approval and submit camp registration form for payment. At time of registration the camp fee of $115.20 is due by the camper’s family. DSHS does not cover days missed by the camper and it is the responsibility of the camper’s family to pay the cancellation fee of $71.20 per missed day. Any portion not paid by DSHS is the campers responsibility.
If you need to cancel your registration for camp, please contact us as soon as possible. If you cancel more than 30 days prior to your camp starting, you will receive a refund minus a $50 administrative fee. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to your camp starting, you will not receive a refund or credit.
