An extraordinary stride forward for Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center
Sometimes the most amazing opportunities are right in your own backyard, or pasture in our case.
Next up are our two horse shows! June 21-22 is the date for the 22nd Annual Pat Flynn Memorial Horse Show. The following weekend - June 28-29 - will be the 2nd Annual Margo O'Callaghan Memorial Dressage Show. Both shows will be held right here at Little Bit. Tucked inbetween the shows will be a Rider Showcase on Thursday, June 26. Rider Showcase is an opportunity to come visit Little Bit and see for yourself what are programs are all about. Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center provides therapeutic
horseback riding to children and adults with disabilities who live in the Puget
Sound area. Classes take place in an environment that emphasizes abilities rather than disabilities.
Riding a horse gives something very powerful to a
person with disabilities. The feeling of
achievement that comes from riding and maneuvering a 1,100 pound horse
is strong medicine. It turns defeat into victory and self-doubt into
self-confidence.
Over 220 students per week during its four ten-week
class sessions each year. In 2000 that amounted to over 400 individual
rider positions from four different counties. More than seventy five
percent of Little Bit riders are children. Classes are held in the
morning, afternoon and evening, Monday through Saturday.
