PATH Advanced Instructor Certification

A PATH Int’l Advanced Level Certified Instructor is knowledgeable in horsemanship and understands disabilities and their relationship to therapeutic riding. This instructor is able to conduct safe, challenging and therapeutically effective lessons to individuals with disabilities.

PATH Intl. offers three levels of Instructor Certification for therapeutic riding: Registered, Advanced, & Master. Each level has specific criteria included with the application materials. This certification is for the Advanced Level only.

In order to become a PATH Intl. Advanced Instructor, you will need to complete the Advanced Certification booklet and return the completed packet to Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center with a copy of your PATH Int’l membership card and current copies of your CPR and First Aid certification. All forms must be returned by July 27, 2018.

PLEASE NOTE: The outcome of all testing, including the written exam, will be shared only after the entire certification is completed.

CHECK-IN – Saturday, September 1st, 2018

8:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Candidate Briefing: Draw for Lesson Times, receive Rider profiles for all lessons (except able-bodied).

DAY 1 – Sunday, September 2nd, 2018

8:00-11:50 a.m. Cognitive Lessons (30 min lessons, 10 min break, 3 riders per class)

11:50-12:30 Lunch Break

12:30-4:20 p.m. Physical Lessons (30 min lessons, 10 min break, 3 riders per class)

4:20-5:00 p.m. Break

5:00-5:30 p.m. Lunging Demonstration (2 at a time)

DAY 2 – Monday, September 3rd, 2018

8:00-8:30 a.m. Stable Management

8:30-10:00 a.m. Riding Demonstration

10:00-10:45 a.m. Horse Evaluations (1 candidate at a time meets with Evaluators)

10:45-11:00 a.m. Break

11:00-12:55 Able-bodied Lessons (15 min lessons, 5 min break, 2 riders)

1:00-3:00 p.m. Written Exam for candidates who have not yet completed

3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Interviews (20 min each)
