Individual Opportunities:

Program: Program volunteers assist riders by grooming and tacking horses before class, supporting riders while in class, leading horses, and putting away horses after class. Program volunteers commit to at least one regular 2-hour shift for the length of a 14 week session. We cannot guarantee a weekly placement, but we offer classes Monday through Saturday, from 8am to 8pm, and try to find a spot during training that works with your schedule. Program volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and attend a Program Volunteer Training.

Barn Team: Barn Team volunteers assist with horse lunch, turnout, and picking paddocks. Barn Team volunteers commit to at least one shift, 12:30-3, Monday-Saturday. Previous horse experience and successful completion of Horse Leader Training required.

Paddock Team: Paddock volunteers ensure our horse’s paddocks are free of droppings. This program is geared toward people with disabilities as a work training program, but is open to everyone. Volunteers commit to a weekly timeslot, dependent on facility availability.

Hospitality Team: Hospitality volunteers ensure our family waiting area is clean and welcoming to our riders’ families. Volunteers must be self-motivated, and this position allows for some creativity! Shifts are morning or evening, Monday through Saturday, and last around one hour. This a great opportunity to add onto another position, and can involve activities that can be done off-site, such as baking cookies to share.

Administrative Team: Administrative volunteers support Little Bit’s mission by assisting in our office. Tasks may include filing, data entry, and making phone calls. Within business hours (Monday-Friday, 9-5), we can be somewhat flexible with your schedule. Can be tailored to fit your skills, creativity recommended! This position sometimes is project-based and may vary in hours.

Maintenance Team: Maintenance Team volunteers ensure that Little Bit is clean and running smoothly. Within business hours (Monday-Friday, 9-5), we can be somewhat flexible with your schedule. This program is geared toward people with disabilities as a work training program, but is open to everyone.

Facility/Landscaping Team: Landscape volunteers help keep the grounds looking beautiful and inviting. They are also instrumental in preparing our new location, Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center Dunmire Stables. Within business hours (Monday-Friday, 9-5), we can be somewhat flexible with your schedule.

Event Team: Event volunteers assist in our Wine Auction, Rider Showcases, Horse Shows, and Reins of Life Auction. Tasks may include set-up, registration, running bid sheets, and tear-down. Scheduling is done on an as-needed basis.
