Spencer came to Little Bit in 2002 as a gift. Around Christmas of 2001, Little Bit was invited to take their pick of any horse from a herd of 25 Fjords, Haflingers, and New Forest Ponies. Jenny Nell methodically examined the whole herd, narrowing the choice down to Spencer and another filly.

The story goes that Jenny put Kathy Alm up on this un-broken 4 year-old with just a halter and a lead. Enticed by food, the rest of the herd galloped madly straight at the frozen humans and the calm fjord. Spencer stood quietly - even proudly - as the horses skidded around them, as if introducing his friends to Jenny and Kathy. It was then determined that Spencer was completely bombproof, a claim which has gone unchallenged during his tenure at Little Bit.

In addition to being trustworthy, Spencer is also incredibly intelligent, and was ready to show within 6 months of his arrival. He is very sensitive to small children which makes him a super star hippotherapy horse.

Over the course of a year, the cost of feed, shavings, shoes, standard veterinary care, and other expenses adds up to over $3,500 per horse. We therefore thank Amanda Stevens for partnering with Little Bit in the care of this amazing therapy horse!
